Dec. 26-31, 2010: Celebrating at Home

After we got home from our trip to Utah, we took some time off and just hung out at home. So it was a pretty chill week without much happening. One of our good friends, Brady, was leaving for college so we invited him over for dinner. Budge decided to wrap up the "Brady cups" and give them to him as a send off gift.

We still had a few Christmas presents at home so we had another small present parade and opened them. Legos were a big hit this year.

And Jaden looked at that Moon Dough in every store we went to. I think he was very surprised since it was the last gift that he opened.

The next couple of pictures are kind of dark and hard to see. But they are of Ali playing with a toy while sitting on a beanbag. She is so funny sometimes. And Jaden is with her in the second picture.

For New Year's Eve, we decided to stay home and hang out with the family. We made a Mickey Mouse puzzle (that turned out to be a little too hard for the kids), played Creationary (a new game that is like Pictionary but building things out of Legos), and played Wii Play games.

We of course had plenty of treats and lots of laughs. Almost everyone stayed up until midnight and we had a blast! 2011... bring it!

Dec. 25, 2010: Christmas Day

Christmas morning started in the usual way... opening stockings.

All three boys got Legos in their stocking so they put them together while they waited for everyone to open presents.

Jacque's favorite part of opening gifts in her stocking? Why, the paper, of course.

Look at that grin! So contagious!

Budge's favorite gift this year was a flash drive that looked like a Lego guy.

Look at that grin on Rohan's face! He has been wanting that watch for a long time now.

Grandpa Bruce helped Jacque open up some of her gifts. This one was a baby doll from her Aunt Marianne and Uncle Kevin.

Blankets and Snuggies were also a hit.

I love Rohan's snuggie that looks like Buzz Lightyear!

Later that day, we went to visit Uncle Alan's family. Here he is holding Jacque in front of their Christmas tree.

Jacque was being her cute self, full of attitude. Everyone was snapping pictures left and right. We couldn't resist.

It was a great day, full of family, smiles, and fun! Merry Christmas everyone!

Dec. 24, 2010: Christmas Eve

Jaden was our big helper as we prepared all of the tables for Christmas Eve dinner. It was at my parent's house with my family and two of my brother's families.

After dinner we did the traditional things like opening up one gift that, surprise!, had pajamas in them. So here are the cousins in new pajamas.

Grandma Helen was part of all of the festivities and even held Jacque for a little while.

The stockings were hung...

Cookies were decorated...

Treats for Santa set out...

Everyone was ready for a long winter's nap...

Dec. 24, 2010: Family Pictures in the Snow

I have been wanting to do family pictures for a while. We never seem to be able to come up with a good time that works for everyone. So, I thought that if we did it while we were on vacation, with nowhere else to be, that maybe it would work.

I had envisioned an orchard at springtime with blossoms everywhere. But this worked well with the snow and the deer that decided to join us.

Chris Manning, Kris's brother-in-law, is the photographer and he did a fantastic job.

Rohan is my toughest child to photograph. He is a little bit of a clown so he likes to make funny faces. I loved this one because he looks so natural!

Budge walked down one of the rows of trees to find a patch of fresh snow to do Jaden's pictures.

These deer were amazing to watch. This one turned and posed just at the right time, like he knew that he was being photographed.

Chris also found this graffiti and I loved the bright colors!

This one makes me laugh when I see it because we were all laughing at the time it was taken. And I also love the position of the star right above Budge's head. His little star crown. :-)

Dec. 19-23, 2010: Hangin' with the Utah Peeps

We went to cousin Jeremy's mission homecoming. It was also the ward Christmas program so it was fun. Jacque was making her famous pouty face.

We were able to visit with our good friends, the Borough's, while we were in Utah. Going out to dinner with 7 boys, 1 girl, and 1 girl on-the-way, always makes for a fun night!

Jacque's first introduction to snow. She was a little unsure of it and didn't really want to touch it. But she loved to sit at the window and just watch it come down.

Xander and Jacque all bundled up and playing in the snow. They spent the morning making a snowman.

And here is the proof of said snowman... Job well done!

3 boys and 3 girls making gingerbread men was a real treat. Here they all are displaying the finished product!

Cousin Lucy was all tuckered out from the hours of fun! Such a cutie!

While we were there, we had to try out Pirate Island with the cousins. Pizza, games, prizes, what could be better?

This is Halley's very creative invention of the coloring circle. I swear that girl is going to be a teacher. She had them all entertained for hours.

This was the same night after Pirate Island. So Jaden was wearing his Pirate Patch that he got with all of his tickets.

On of the nights we were in Utah, Grandpa Bruce took us to the Polar Express. He works with the owner at the temple so he told us to come and he would take us for a ride. That's the little engine that pulled the train.

We all took a seat in the little train seats and went through a tunnel, around houses, and saw lights and pictures of Christ.

We even stopped at the North Pole. But Santa was already out getting ready to deliver presents.

On Christmas Eve day, we went to an orchard in downtown Provo to take family pictures. On the way home, we drove by the Provo Tabernacle, or at least, what is left of it.

It was so sad to see the damage the fire had done. The windows were literally hanging in ribbons. So sad... This was the first place that I attended a Messiah Sing-In. Such great memories from this place. I hope they rebuild it.
